We started the day off with a nice hike to Fish Creek Falls.  The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful.  After hiking to the lookout, we hiked down to the base of the falls.  The water was moving so fast and the current was so strong, that we made sure we had a good hold on all the girls!

After the hike, we headed to town to do some shopping.  And by "shopping" I mean a lengthy stop at Fuzziwig's Candy Factory!

We wandered around town for awhile and then ate a "breakfast" lunch at The Shack Cafe. Then we headed out of Steamboat a ways to the town of Hayden, CO.

On the way back to Steamboat, we stopped alongside the road to dip our feet in the Yampa River, where Hayden caught a fish with her bare hands. 

It was a tiny one, but a fish just the same.

We woke up and ate breakfast at the breakfast bar.  Hayden and Rian liked the fancy kitchen sink and water sprayer so much that they spent an hour doing the dishes together while pretending they were filming a cooking show.  We checked out of Crystal Peak Lodge and took the gondola over to Peak 8 to ride the Alpine slide.  Mom was very nervous about Rian and Jessie riding an open chairlift to the top, but they both did great.  Everyone had a blast riding down the mountain, enjoying all the wildflowers and chipmunks along the way.

The base of Peak 8

After the slide, we stopped in Frisco and grabbed some bagel sandwiches and headed out for a short hike near Lake Dillon.  It was so beautiful and just the mountain therapy we all were in need of!

Jessie's classic hiking attire. Of course, she'd be more comfortable at the make-up counter at Macy's than a hiking trail, but she was a good sport just the same. 

After cooling our feet off in the water for a bit and dropping a bagel sandwich (or two) in the sand, we headed back to the car for the drive into Steamboat.

We went horseback riding at Breckenridge Stables on Peak 9 and enjoyed   breathtaking views of the Continental Divide and two of the 14ers. 

Hayden was a natural leading her horse, Black Rain on the rugged terrain.

Rian was so proud to ride on a horse of her own, Squirt, who was tethered to the wrangler, P.J.'s horse.

Jessie and I had fun and enjoyed the view while riding Za Za. Daddy took up the rear on his very tame horse, Emma.  It was his first time on a horse, so they gave him the most docile one available!

The trail ride lasted an hour and a half, and was the highlight of our time in Breckenridge.

After the ride, we ate lunch at the Kenosha Steakhouse and wandered around downtown for awhlie.  We bought some cute outfits for Rian and Jessie at Magical Scrap Boutique and the girls loaded up their arms with as many bracelets as possible for a photo op.

We had a relaxing afternoon back at the condo, where the girls loved playing on our patio and singing to their heart's content.  We made a nice dinner and once again made our way to the biggest hot tub the girls had ever seen.

Family Trip to Breckenridge and Steamboat

This summer we took a family trip to Breckenridge and Steamboat Springs.  The girls enjoyed watching "Kitt Kittridge" during the two and a half hour ride to Breckenridge and mom and dad enjoyed a peaceful car ride and some quiet conversation!

After arriving, we enjoyed a nice lunch at a quaint little cafe in downtown Breckenridge.

We checked into our condo at Crystal Peak Lodge at the top of Peak 7.  The panaramic views of the mountains were amazing. 

After cooking dinner in our gourmet kitchen and enjoying the meal using fancy glasses and silverware, we headed down for a long soak in the hot tub.
